London Play2Remember is an annual 5-a-side football tournament to remember genocide survivors with a social goal: promoting reconciliation and togetherness through sport. Established in 2014 by Football for Hope, Peace and Unity (FHPU) in collaboration with several community outreach groups and their supporters, London Play2Remember provides a chance for survivors of genocide and mass atrocities, to get together in a spirit of commemoration and hope.
The format for LP2R 2018 will include a warm up ahead of the kick off, with participation from everyone present! Whether you intend to spectate on the sidelines, play in the tournament, share a new experience with your children or come along to honour and support the survivors you’ll meet, our warm up exercise will be sure to leave you inspired. The event is open to men, women and mixed teams 18+. There are 10 players per team.
Please join as a team or individual player (you will be allocated to a team) to play on the day, or as a spectator to watch the fun and support our cause. Families are welcome and there is plenty of space for children to have a friendly ‘kick about’ themselves!
The event is not for profit, any proceeds will be used to cover running costs or will be donated to the organisers to fund our work with vulnerable survivors, migrants and refugee groups.
